Music and Theatre Events at ArtsFest 2013

B Sharp musicians will kick off Lyme Regis ArtsFest’s impressive events schedule with a Busking Festival over the weekend of 21-22 Sept from 11am till 8pm in the Marine Parade Shelters and around town. Always a crowd-pleaser, B Sharp is adding a set of ‘play me’ drums to its ‘play me’ piano in the Shelters, which last year attracted 60 different pianists to tinkle the ivories to the delight of visitors. Could records be broken this year?

The Marine Theatre has scheduled three special events to take place over ArtsFest. On Wednesday 25 Sept at 7.30pm, the Forest Forge Theatre Company will be exploring how change affects different generations in ‘Free Folk’, a witty and poignant play by Gary Owen. The next night, 26 Sept at 8pm, sees TV comedienne Lucy Porter on stage with her best live show yet, called ‘Northern Soul’, fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe.

ArtsFest’s finale is yet another musical treat: a performance on 29 Sept at the Marine Theatre by a true legend of British music, Maddy Prior. Together with two new musical partners, Maddy returns to perform the music of England, the British Isles and Eastern Europe…all in her own unique style. Booking is highly advisable for these three evenings; tickets are available from the Lyme Regis TIC (01297 442138).

Further details are available online (www.lymeregisartsfest.com) or pick up the free ArtsFest brochure, now available at TICs, libraries and local shops in the region.
